"No" to Fluoride in Our Water

Health chiefs in Southampton are launching a £178,000 consultatioh starting in August on adding fluoride to the water supply. A decision will be made in January 2009. Thousands of residents living outside the City, including parts of Totton, may also be affected by the controversial proposals as their homes are served by the same water distributuon network.

Local MP and Totton resident Julian Lewis stated: "I have always been opposed to the idea of forced medication via the domestic water supply. I believe it would set a dangerous precedent, and if there appeared to be no harmful side-effects, the prospect of harm being done over a long period is too dreadful to contemplate."
