Canvass Returns Give Conservatives Massive Boost

Conservatives in New Forest East are delighted with recent canvass returns. Both over the phone and on the doorstep, from Totton to South Waterside, the response is very positive.

It is clear that Michael Howard's new policy announcement to tightly control asylum and immigration has been particularly singled out by voters.

Constituency chairman, Derek Tipp, said, "I am not surprised at this response, as this was by far the number one issue of concern in our recent constituency-wide poll."

Many of those who previously voted Liberal Democrat and Labour are now saying that they will vote Conservative. Another major concern expressed was the high tax policy of the present Government, without the hoped for benefits. The Conservative policy to cut out wasteful bureaucarcy has also struck a chord.

Our canvassers also found that MP, Julian Lewis, was personally extremely popular with voters, many of whom said, either that they had been helped by him, or knew someone who had.
